The short version: Trip Chronicle is a private group travel journal, built for fun. We collect what we need to run your sessions and your account — nothing about your health, and nothing about your location. We don't sell your data. You can export or delete everything from inside the app.

1. What we collect

Information you give us

Information collected automatically

What we do NOT collect

Trip Chronicle does not collect or calculate medical or health data, or your precise location. Every "vibe" metric in the app (Chaos, Side Quest, Plot Armor, and similar) is fictional and for entertainment only.

2. How we use your information

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the app work, and only as needed:

ProviderPurpose
Google (Firebase)Sign-in, push notifications, bot protection (App Check)
AppleSign in with Apple, App Store purchases
Google PlayAndroid purchases
RevenueCatManaging and validating in-app purchases
Cloudflare (R2)Storing session photos and avatars
Fly.ioHosting the Trip Chronicle backend server
AnthropicGenerating AI Day narrator commentary and premium recap summaries (only when those AI features are used — see below)
PostmarkOperational emails, such as content-report alerts

Each provider processes data only to deliver its part of the service. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the service.

4. AI Day

Trip Chronicle includes optional AI features: AI Day and the premium recap "Chronicle of the Day". When someone in your session turns on AI Day, or unlocks a premium recap, the app sends limited session context — such as the type of thing logged, moment and prompt events, display names, and short free-text notes members choose to send to the narrator — to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate a short line of commentary or a recap summary. This context is used only to produce that text in the moment. Free-text notes sent to the narrator are not stored by us: they are used to generate that one line and then discarded, and they are never shown to anyone. Commentary and recap summaries may be AI-generated. If neither of these AI features is used, no session data is sent to the AI provider and the app uses pre-written commentary instead.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account and session data while your account is active so your history and recaps remain available. Session photos remain until the session is cleaned up or you or the account is deleted. In-session chat messages are ephemeral: they are deleted when the session ends. Messages you report are kept for up to 90 days for safety review, then deleted. When you delete your account, we remove or irreversibly anonymize your personal information, keeping only what we're required to retain for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, a minimal record of a purchase).

6. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA — including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@samtech.solutions. We don't sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

7. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, per-user authorization on every request, and rate limiting against abuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

8. Age and children

Trip Chronicle is intended for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Trip Chronicle after an update means you accept the revised policy.
